The following well-known names will evaluate young designers’ projects for furniture and complements submitted to Nokia Nseries Design Award:





Karim Azzabi
Interior & exhibit designer and architect. Among his latest works, the new Piquadro’s headquarters, the riqualification of Milan Mercati Generali, Torch Tower Hotel in Doha, and the Museum of Desert Cultures in Qatar.

Gisella Borioli
Journalist and SuperstudioGroup director. Author and art director, she has been the editor of important fashion magazines. She has also been creative director with regard to events, fashion, styling, design, contemporary art, communication, video, television, entertainment, and editorial projects. 

Gilda Boiardi
She’s a journalist. Since 1994, she has been editor of “INTERNI”, an international interior design magazine, and she has been responsible for all its editorial initiatives. Under her direction, INTERNI has created FuoriSalone (this brand is owned by INTERNI since 1990), besides several different events and exhibitions. Because of her involvement in spreading design culture internationally, she has been awarded as Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Minister of Culture (2006). Moreover, she was also awarded with an Ambrogino d’Oro by the Municipality of Milan in 2007, and with the 1st Prix of the Parisian Designer’s Day in 2008.

Monica Fabris
She’s an expert in dynamic psychology applied to social research methodology. From 1998 to 2007, she has been a member of the managing board, and responsible for the Research Area on the GpF Brand. She became President of this company in 2007. She has also faced relevant themes such as convergence and UMTS. She was one of the first people to believe in the growth of Indian and Oriental markets.

Gino Finizio
One of the main international experts in design management and transportation design. He has been aware of the need to integrate management culture and project culture for years. To achieve this aim, he has been working for important industries, companies providing services, research centers, and universities. An honoris causa degree was awarded to him for his scientific support to the academic, economic, and industrial sectors by the Architecture Faculty of the Seconda Università di Napoli. His research works are very important, and he has also written essays and books in English and French, like “Design & Management – Gestire l’idea” (2002) and Architecture & Mobility, tradition and innovation” (2006), both published by Skira.

Carlo Forcolini
Designer. He took part in Alias foundation in 1979. Since 1980, he has been collaborating with Artemide. Among his creations, inspired by the idea of drawing as symbol of life, the Bunuel Mirror, the Apocalypse Now Table, and the Polifemo Lamp from Artemide.

Marta Giardini
She’s an architect. She lives and works in Milan. She’s Paola Navone’s assistant. With her, she was involved in the Armani Casa project right from the beginning. Moreover, she contributed to establish Gervasoni Blu. She founded Entratalibera together with Bruno Rainaldi in 2002. From 2004 to 2007, she moved to Spain and became the artistic director of Zara Home (table and textile accessories). Since 2007, she has been artistic director of DMK, Sintesi, and other brands of the same Group. She has also worked as designer for Opinion Ciatti and DMK.

Arik Levy
Israeli designer. After developing interior design projects for the European market, he has attended exhibitions and international fairs. Lots of his works have been included in permanent collections. He founded his own company, named L Design, in 1996. Among his clients, Cartier and Vitra.

Axel Meyer
Graduated in product design at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). After working as freelance designer for important Argentinian, Belgian, and Dutch brands, he triggered off his career at Nokia Design in 2000, during which he supervised a series of projects dedicated to multimedia products. He was responsible for the Nokia Design Team in Oulu (Finland) in 2002. He became Group Design Director at the head of the Nokia Design Multidisciplinary Multimedia Projecting Team. Then, he became a member of the Multimedia Design Management Board. At present, he’s Head of Design for the Explore category.

Paola Navone
She’s from Turin. She’s architect, designer, art director, and art curator, working for selected brands, like Armani Casa, Piazza Sempione, Abet Laminati, Gervasoni, Lando, EMU, Riva 1920, and Pomellato.

Michele Perini
He’s the president of Fiera Milano and Sagsa Spa (office furniture). He’s a member of the managing board of Confindustria. Since January 2005, he has been the president of the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan. He’s also socially committed, and he’s part of the managing board of Telefono Azzurro.

Pietro Piccinetti
Engineer. He started his professional career within the Olivetti Group, where he collaborated with famous designers, such as Ettore Sottsass and Achille Castiglioni. At present, he’s the president of Gruppo Sintesi, which today includes nine different brands, like Sintesi, Marcatré, Cabas, Montina, and BBBemmebonacina. He plays institutional roles, such as National Counsellor of the Federlegno-Arredo Committee, Counsellor of the Italian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Administrative Counsellor of Fiera Milano International (Gruppo Fiera Milano Spa).

Bruno Rainaldi
Designer. He lives and works in Milan. He founded Studio Rari, and he’s still its creative director. He’s the president of Opinion Ciatti. Together with Marta Giardini, he founded ENTRATALIBERA Glamour Design Store in 2002. He’s creative director of Mussi Italy. Since 1992, he has collaborated with Sintesi, BBB, DMK, Montina, and other brands of Gruppo Sintesi. Thanks to his vertical bookshelf, called “Tolomeo”, he won a Compasso d’Oro in 2004. He has drawn “Terzani – La luce pensata” since 2005.
